Our talismanic striker, still only 24, claimed the monthly prize from the Premier League for the second time this season, having also earned the honour in September.
Having previously won it in January and February of 2015, March of 2016 and back in February, 2017, Harry has now surpassed Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie's five Player of the Month trophies and is level with Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard on six. One more would see him set a new outright record. Gerrard won his between March, 2001, and March, 2014.
“It’s amazing, I’m very proud of that,” said Harry. “As always, big thanks to the team, it was a great month and it’s great to (equal) that record.
“Whenever I get around the box, I feel I can get a shot off quickly and of course the team have been creating great chances so I’m there to stick them in the back of the net. I feel good, I feel sharp so I guess I’ll just carry on.”
A product of our Academy, Harry also joins Manchester United's Ashley Young as the only players to have claimed the prize three times in a calendar year while, impressively, his latest triumph means a Spurs player was named EA SPORTS Player of the Month in five of the 12 months during 2017, with Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son also taking the honour in January and April respectively.
Harry netted eight goals in December including back-to-back hat-tricks in our wins over Burnley and Southampton to close out the year.
His treble against the Saints on Boxing Day saw him surpass Alan Shearer's record for most Premier League goals scored in a calendar year, setting a new benchmark of 39, and break into the list of the club's top 10 all-time goalscorers by leapfrogging Robbie Keane. He's since jumped above Teddy Sheringham into ninth.
“It’s unbelievable,” he said. “Teddy was a big role model of mine growing up and to be ahead of him now is amazing. It’s happened so quickly so I just want to carry it on and keep going.”
So what was Harry’s favourite goal in December?
“I’d probably say the one that broke the record against Southampton (the first of three),” he said. “Obviously there was a lot of talk before the game about whether I’d do it or not so to get that goal and early on in the game as well, it was a great achievement.”
